Our client, one of Western Canada’s leading labour law firms and located in downtown Vancouver, is looking to hire an intermediate legal administrative assistant to join their team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers including;
    • filing, opening & closing files, maintaining calendars and client lists, maintaining bring forward systems, reviewing and filing email correspondence using established firm standards and procedures, and time entry
  • Assistance with the production of basic correspondence and legal documents using advanced formatting features, including proofreading and formatting
  • Hearing, arbitration and litigation support
  • Organizing and assembling documents, books, binders and other materials
  • Assisting other staff with work as time permits
  • Other general administrative and legal support related tasks

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as an Administrative Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant
  • Diploma from an accredited college an asset
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to be adaptable and resourceful
  • Ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, even when doing routine and/or repetitive tasks
  • Litigation experience, including solid knowledge of all steps in the litigation process, thorough knowledge and understanding of BC Supreme Court Civil Rules, court practices and procedures and filing deadlines;
  • Strong computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat, BC Registries and Court Services, myLTSA and BC Online
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a self-starter attitude
  • Ability to prioritize tasks assigned and, when necessary, switch between uncompleted tasks as priorities change
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple assignments and deadlines
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision, and to obtain the assistance of others when the work loads, tasks assigned and priorities require it
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
