Over 3 decades of experience as a Legal Recruitment Specialist, Director of Human Resources, Director of Operations, The Legal Freelance Centre.
10 years legal experience in litigation, criminal defence, labour law, corporate records, corporate/commercial, residential and commercial conveyancing, wills & estates, corporate tax, corporate/securities, matrimonial, aboriginal & mediation law.
Community-minded; volunteer on public advisory committees for legal courses at various colleges and post-secondary schools for over 20 years.
Youth Educator; volunteer trainer and team-builder for female high performance ice hockey athletes as they pursue their goals for Canada’s National Women’s Team.
Loves dogs & cats, married, has 2 great sons, throws terrific Christmas parties and has a good sense of humour!

Michael T. Brown, Legal Recruitment Specialist

Michael joined the team full-time in 2021 and assists the team in all duties including candidate interviewing, client consultations, canvassing, internal billing and administrative work. He also does both Temporary and Permanent Placements.
He graduated from SFU with a B.A. in 2013 after competing on the Simon Fraser University Ice Hockey Team and following, attained his HR Management Certificate from SFU. He uses his client focused skills to best serve both our candidates and clients in the Human Resources field.
Michael has a passion for ice hockey and continues to play in several recreational leagues.

Keeping Current

In 2012 The Law Society of B.C. announced the expansion of roles for paralegals. The two-year pilot project began in January , 2013 as Family Law Paralegals started to appear in chambers on select applications. As with articled students it was incumbent on the supervising lawyer to ensure that the scope of representation a paralegal takes on is commensurate with her or his abilities. These initiatives are being taken specifically to address the need for greater access to affordable legal services in a number of areas. On January 13, 2021, an article was written in the Vancouver Sun by Ian Mulgrew mentioning that The Law Society's new Strategic Plan 2021-2025 will help people and give them "access to justice" as stated by president Dean Lawton. Lawton believes the plan will "allow paralegals, tech companies, entrepreneurs and others to offer some legal services that until now have been available only through a lawyer". We await further exciting news.
